Neil Mendenhall | Director, ESG Strategy: Neil is a professional sustainability consultant and auditor with over 20 years of experience working with small to large organizations to develop and advance their sustainability goals. Projects include the development of corporate policies, codes of conduct, materiality assessments, ESG goal setting, responsible sourcing protocols, supplier risk assessments, and supplier audit programs. Neil's experience spans a broad range of industries and issues, including mining and conflict minerals, forestry, pulp & paper and deforestation risk, agriculture, botanicals, biofuels, electronics, transportation, forced labor, and supply chain traceability. In addition, Neil is a credentialled auditor under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), and a number of biofuel and agriculture programs (ISCC, RSB, and Bonsucro). Neil also leads SCS’ corporate sustainability report assurance work as an Associate Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner under AccountAbility’s AA1000 Assurance Standard. Since taking a position at SCS in 2005, Neil has conducted corporate and supply chain sustainability assessments of forests, plantations, mines, factories, and offices throughout the Americas, Asia, Australia, Africa, and Latin America. Neil’s education includes a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Environmental Technology at Sonoma State University and a master’s degree in International Environmental Policy from the University of California, San Diego.
Heena Patel | Director, Food Safety Consulting and Technical Services: Heena Patel is Technical Director, Sr. Consultant of SCS Consulting, the company’s independent business consulting branch focused on providing food safety, quality, and regulatory consulting services and technical support in the food industry to continuously improve site’s programs and performance. She has over 20 years of experience in the food industry and is SCS’s Consulting Services' most prolific consultant. She executes and delivers results at a higher level and provides solutions to meet individual client needs. Over the years, Ms. Patel’s meticulous attention to detail and leadership has consistently helped SCS gain a reputation in the industry as a leader in the provision of top-quality food safety services, giving clients added assurance every step of the way. In 2015, the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI) had named Heena Patel, the “SQFI Auditor of the Year.” Ms. Patel received the accolade for her ‘outstanding commitment, support, and performance’ in endorsing and improving the SQFI program and mission around the globe. Heena Patel is a true professional and an expert, as acknowledged by industry professionals. She has BSc in Biochemistry, Cell biology, and Food Microbiology from the University of Auckland, New Zealand.
Bonnie Holman | Technical Director, Sustainable Agriculture: Bonnie is an experienced sustainability professional, bringing over 15 years of experience partnering with companies, non-profits, governments, and farmers in the food and agriculture sector. Prior to joining SCS Consulting, Bonnie led SCS Global Service’s voluntary sustainability standard certification programs in the food and agriculture sector, developing new business arms, and overseeing program piloting, service delivery, technical and field specialist training and management across all global regions. Bonnie served as a subject matter expert towards standards development for private companies as well as global sustainable agricultural standards, to include Global GAP, SAI Platform Farm Sustainability Assessment, Fair Trade USA Agricultural and Seafood Standards, and Equitable Food Initiative. She holds auditor credentials in social responsibility, sustainable agriculture, and seafood, and is a Certified Association of Professional Social Compliance Auditor (APSCA). Bonnie’s background also includes supporting scaling of food company start-up built on a responsible sourcing from smallholders. She is a Fulbright Fellowship recipient for assessing community benefits for a national forest conservation program in Ecuador and ran community development projects as a Peace Corps Volunteer in El Salvador. Bonnie is fluent in English and Spanish.
Bonnie holds a MA in International Environmental Policy from Middlebury Institute of International Studies where she has also served as an adjunct faculty member. She holds a BA in Speech Communication from Northern Arizona University.
Nick Kemp | Senior Technical Manager: Nick is a resourceful sustainability practitioner who is thrilled to work with clients to build a more equitable and sustainable future. He joins SCS with prior experience as a production and process design engineer, as well as with experience in life-cycle assessment, carbon footprint assessment, and GHG emissions reduction strategy development. Nick led various waste, energy, and water reduction projects during his time working in manufacturing and most recently completed work on modeling GHG emissions and carbon neutral pathways for the University of Michigan. He joins SCS to engage with clients in developing and advancing meaningful and impactful sustainability initiatives and targets. Nick holds an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in sustainable systems from the University of Michigan’s School for Environment and Sustainability where he was awarded a Dow Fellowship.
Hannah Fetner | Senior Technical Project Manager: Hannah Fetner is an enthusiastic sustainability champion focused on promoting the integration of environmental strategies into business. As a project manager, Hannah assists clients at any stage of their sustainability journey, including goalsetting, benchmarking, completing risk assessments and greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories or understanding certification processes. Her prior experiences in engineering, manufacturing, project management, and industrial ecology allow her to support diverse clientele with varying business and environmental needs. In addition to her technical background, Hannah has experience in various teaching roles, which has helped her be able to communicate complicated issues in a simple, yet articulate way. Hannah holds a master's degree in Sustainable Systems, a certificate in Industrial Ecology and a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
Eric Olson | Senior Technical Project Manager: Eric Olson is a dedicated environmental and sustainability professional driven to help organizations succeed in establishing and meeting their ESG goals. He has over ten years of experience working with a range of industrial and commercial clients to establish policies and goals, create management plans, and develop metrics that meaningfully indicate progress. Eric has led GHG inventory development, CDP reporting, materiality assessments, and reporting to GRI and SASB Standards. Eric holds a bachelor's degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Science from the University of Minnesota.
Stephanie Ellis | Project Manager: Stephanie is a passionate believer that sustainable business can significantly help drive positive lasting environmental improvements to create a pathway for future generations to live to their greatest potential and enjoy the great outdoors, just as she has. She brings expertise to SCS with a background in outreach and communications in the utility-based voluntary REC market where she supported client relationships and advised in best practices and sustainable operations for robust programming to achieve carbon reduction goals. Through thoughtful organization and a knack for visualizing analytics she has supported company successes including organizational professional growth, sales operations enhancements, key market research and GHG accounting with a focus on the Waste Sector. With her passion and excitement for innovation, she hopes to realize great change in sustainable business standardization.
James Jurcak | Analyst, SCS Consulting Services: James is a passionate environmentalist who seeks to connect this passion to the business world through his work in sustainability. He has experience in working with various clients on ESG and sustainability topics as well various roles in the environmental industry. He is detail-oriented and data-driven, always seeking to provide the most value to his clients. He has a strong understanding of the ESG data landscape and sustainability strategy, always seeking to zoom out and ensure his work contributes to progress on strategic goals. He comes to SCS after earning his Master of Environmental Management from Duke University, where he focused on corporate sustainability. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science & Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese from Michigan State University.
Tori Chillscyzn | Analyst, SCS Consulting Services: Tori is a new addition to the SCS Consulting Services team, having graduated from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental & Ecological Engineering this past Spring 2021. She comes to SCS with a fresh perspective, a willingness to learn and uphold company standards, as well as maintain a high quality of work. In addition to keeping up with rigorous undergraduate coursework, Tori also helped lead two service-learning projects, which saw the installation of best management practices for stormwater management at two separate local businesses in West Lafayette, IN, the results of which were published in the Purdue Journal of Service Learning. Tori has also participated in multiple summer internships where she expanded her working knowledge on sustainability. Sustainable practices, both personal and professional, are at the forefront of Tori’s mind and drive her decision-making. As an analyst, Tori aims to analyze both quantitative and qualitative data to provide results and solutions which holistically answer a company’s specific questions.
Radojka Barycki | Consultant/Instructor: Radojka’s technical food and quality experience spans over 20 years across the food supply chain. Technical and managerial roles include quality assurance, food safety program implementation and management as well as training. She has extensive knowledge of and hands-on working experience with ISO 19001 and ISO 14001, and GFSI benchmarked standards including SQF and FSSC 22000. Radojka possesses expert knowledge of FDA regulations including FSMA rules, HACCP (Juice), Pasteurized Milk Ordinance, USDA and Organic, testing and analysis, calibration, and auditing processes. Radojka is an approved FSMA Preventive Controls for Human Food instructor and a qualified SQF Practitioner. SQF Trainer and Consultant. Industry expertise includes dairy, juice, dry foods, carbonated soft drinks, water and teas. Radojka is proficient in both English and Spanish.
Harmeet Dosanjh | Consultant/Instructor: Harmeet graduated in Biotechnology and has a master’s degree in Food Safety from Michigan State University. She holds a certificate in International Food laws & regulations (U.S, China, European Union, and Global regulation of Food contact substances-Packaging). She is a Food Safety and Quality Management System professional with over 16 years of experience in Food industry. She is a BRCGS Approved Training Partner (ATP), SQFI approved SQF consultant/trainer, FSSC22000 trainer, skilled in performing GAP assessment, production management, Product safety culture, GMPs, HACCP, Root cause analysis, Risk assessment, Vulnerability assessment for food fraud, FDA FSMA (Preventive Controls for Human Food) and GFSI (BRCGS, SQF, FSSC22000, PRIMUSGFS). She has extensive knowledge of and hands-on working experience with GFSI benchmarked standards including BRCGS, SQF and FSSC 22000. She develops food safety policies, pre-requisites programs, food safety and quality plans and trainings to achieve FDA FSMA and GFSI-BRCGS, SQF, FSSC22000 and PRIMUSGFS standard compliance.
Jessica Chen | Senior Program Coordinator: Jessica Chen is the Analyst of SCS Consulting Services. She graduated from UC Berkeley in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Conservation and Resource Studies with an emphasis in Public and Environmental Health. Jessica oversees the day-to-day communications, operations, and management of the Food Safety trainings available through SCS Global/Consulting Services, focusing on streamlining communication processes and enhancing technical systems. Jessica has basic food safety training and continues developing her project management and data analytic skills within SCS. As she transitions into her new role as an Analyst in SCS Consulting, Jessica will be implementing and overseeing projects focused on optimizing and improving our training and consulting services.
Lizzie Kerrigan | Program Coordinator, II: Lizzie is an empathetic professional focused on modernizing workflows of operational tasks in support of our Sustainability Consulting, Food Safety Training, and Food Safety Consulting teams. She is a trained horticulturalist with refined experience managing 2 sole proprietorships and multiple small businesses, driven by her tech, Fortune-500 business development skillset to grow effective, meaningful, and quality programs. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture degree from Pennsylvania State University and has worked at 3 of the Top 100 Nurseries in the U.S. Her life goal is to develop a small farm, cultivating organic edibles for local restaurants. She spends her time bringing decadent snacks to her daughter’s athletic events and festivals where her artist husband is vending.
