A Like-Minded Commitment to Industry Transformation: Deeper Insights into Responsible Luxury during Climate Week
Climate Week 2024 kicked off in New York City on September 22nd under the auspices of a rallying theme — “It’s Time.” On September 24th, SCS Global Services (SCS) proudly co-hosted the first annual Responsible Luxury Roundtable & Dinner alongside the International Gemological Institute - IGI, ANZA GEMS, LLC, and Laurenti New York.

The event brought together a distinguished group of jewelry and luxury industry leaders to contribute to the vital conversations fostered during Climate Week and to advance important innovations for the global luxury goods sector, which is dedicated to serving the world’s most conscientious consumers. Today’s consumers demand increased awareness of supply chain ethics along with trustworthy verification and certification of luxury goods. Conversations throughout the event emphasized strategic collaboration and the need to leverage the power of the industry’s collective strengths.

Attendees ranged from NGOs to jewelry manufacturers and technology innovators to accessories companies, legal and sustainability experts, and world-renowned fashion publications. Also in attendance were three certified SCS Sustainability Rated Diamond producers: ALTR, Fenix Diamonds, and Craft Diamonds — which all operate on 100% renewable energy.
Championing the spirit of this year's Climate Week theme, the event aimed to take full advantage of the collective ingenuity, creativity, and commitment to excellence — long promoted by the global luxury sector — to advance innovation while protecting the environment and bolstering the economies of mining and manufacturing communities worldwide.

Diamond industry leaders especially hold tremendous influence to ensure that the priceless nature and timeless beauty of diamonds are honored by the strongest ethical commitments and sustainability practices. As Climate Week’s first annual Responsible Luxury Roundtable & Dinner exemplified, the journey towards a sustainable future is a collective effort — and by working together, we can create a legacy of trust and excellence in the world of fine jewelry and other luxury goods.
